New Year Skin 2022

Happy New Year 2022! January is a great month to jump-start with simple.

My big 3 simples steps for healthy skin are-

  • Drink fluids that have a purpose using “filtered water” with green tea, ginger, and lemon. Find out what’s in your water here and consider using a Brita filter.

  • Medspa treatments that require minimal sun exposure Micro-needling and Aquagold. Treatments that are best done in a series- Laser Genesis, Aquagold and Micro-needling

  • Re-evaluate your current daily supplements

We all know that internal inflammation lays the groundwork for chronic disease.  What we eat, drink, and how we live affects our inflammatory “load”. Sugar, processed foods, lack of sleep, alcohol, stress, and over-exercising contribute to the “load” and we feel “bad” but silent inflammation is the redness, dryness, rashes, and acne that we see on our face.

Fluids to feel good, look good-

Make your fluids count and restore your body’s fluid balance. Hydration and healthy digestion are primary ways to reduce the inflammatory load and improve skin quality.

  • Green Tea is high in polyphenols. Polyphenols have research proven anti-inflammatory properties that help protect skin, heart, blood sugar, joints and circulation from oxidative stress, the cause of rapid aging. I like Tulsi Holi Basil Green Tea, not bitter and enough caffeine to act as a nice substitute for that 2nd cup of coffee.

  • Lemon and warm water taken in the morning improves digestion by acidifying our gut. Poor digestion is a proven cause of body inflammation.  Sugar, stress, alcohol and certain medications reduce stomach acid so a ½ lemon in warm water is a very nice way to start your day to optimize digestion.

  • Ginger tea with fresh ginger is a fantastic anti-inflammatory tea that specifically works on digestion by stimulating bile to break down fats and carry away waste. Drinking it daily aides in improving digestion and metabolism.

Winter Medspa treatments to look good-

  • Micro-needling is an in-office medical-grade treatment that visibly reduces acne scars and smooths texture.  With a supportive skincare program, this treatment will reduce the redness and stimulate the production of collagen and fibrin to firm and soften fine lines associated with aging. Best done in a series of three the first year and then 1-2 annually depending on your skincare goals. Available with PRP.  Best results are attained when skin is healthy and balanced. This treatment requires downtime and reduced sun exposure.

  • Aquagold is an in-office medical treatment that infuses a “cocktail”  using 0.6mm gold-tipped hollow needles. This customized infusion is recommended in a series of three, scheduled 6 weeks apart. This treatment is ideal for brightening, preventing, and smoothing fine lines.  May be used as a single treat prior to a special event. Reduced sun exposure is recommended after this treatment.

  • Laser Genesis, the unsung hero of laser-based skin care treatments. This is a no-downtime procedure that smooths skins’ texture, promotes clarity by reducing redness and pigmentation, and brightens by bringing oxygen to the surface.  This treatment is a cumulative treatment recommended a month apart in a series of three to five. It is an ideal for treatment for wedding prep or for gradually reducing acne scars. Skincare consult with our registered nurses is recommended to establish skincare goals. Treatment requires daily use of sunscreen.

  • Botox, it’s not just a winter treatment, I like to put it on my list because it’s a nice way to give a boost and reduce fine lines.  Reducing muscle movement beneath the skin prevents fine line formation on the surface of the skin i.e. around our eyes and forehead. This treatment is recommended every 3-5 months or when the fine lines or movement returns. Your metabolism will affect the longevity of Botox.

And finally, re-access your daily supplement intake and check expiration dates.

Ask yourself, why am I taking it, have I noticed a change since taking this, how long was this recommended for? If you are not sure about the answers to these questions, ask.

As for the basics, my go-to women’s multivitamin is Innate Response Women’s One a Day.  The vitamins in this supplement are food sourced. That means vitamin C comes from oranges and vitamin A from carrots.  Our bodies assimilate vitamins easier and more efficiently when they come from food.

Just in case you are wondering, the number 2022, when added together equals 6 and the number 6 in numerology means the embodiment of the heart. It represents unconditional love and the ability to support, nurture, and heal.

There you have it 2022!
